Treated this year

The approach

How we treat this — and how we measure progress.

Run by Dr. Omar Hashem, our sports clinic uses an isokinetic dynamometer and a six-test return-to-sport battery. We treat amateur runners through Premier League level — and we will tell you when you are not ready, even if your coach disagrees.

Typical recovery timeline

What recovery looks like, week by week.

Personal trajectories vary; this is the median path our patients follow.

  1. 1

    Weeks 1–2

Pain modulation, baseline isokinetic if cleared

  2. 2

    Weeks 3–6

Strength endurance, single-leg control, sport-specific drills

  3. 3

    Weeks 7–12

    Plyometric progression, change-of-direction, repeat-sprint capacity

  4. 4

    Weeks 13–18

    Return-to-sport testing, graded match exposure

What to expect

No surprises. The first three weeks are predictable.

Objective baseline

Isokinetic numbers, hop tests and Y-balance recorded on day one. We won't progress on opinions alone.

Coach communication

We send your coach a weekly one-page summary so training load and rehab load match.

Six-criterion clearance

Return-to-sport requires meeting six measurable targets, not a calendar date.

Techniques we use

Evidence-led methods, layered intentionally.

  • Isokinetic strength testing
  • Hop test battery
  • Blood flow restriction training
  • Plyometric progressions

2024 outcome data

Re-injury rates within 12 months sit at 7% across our ACL caseload, vs. published averages of 15–20%.
