The approach
How we treat this — and how we measure progress.
Spinal cord injury demands a different rhythm — slower, more technical, family-inclusive. Our protocol blends activity-based training, robotic gait trials, transfers training and a strict skin-and-bladder program co-managed with a urologist on retainer.
Typical recovery timeline
What recovery looks like, week by week.
Personal trajectories vary; this is the median path our patients follow.
- 1
Weeks 1–4
ASIA examination, respiratory work, sitting tolerance
- 2
Weeks 5–12
Transfer independence, wheelchair skills, FES cycling
- 3
Weeks 13–24
Robotic gait if appropriate, standing program, community access
- 4
Weeks 25–32
Home environment review, return-to-work planning
What to expect
No surprises. The first three weeks are predictable.
Family integrated from week one
Spouse or caregiver attends two sessions a week — transfers, skin checks, bladder routine.
Robotic gait when indicated
Selected incomplete-injury patients trial the Lokomat gait trainer twice weekly with measurable step-symmetry data.
Long-term follow-up
Quarterly check-ins for two years post-discharge, included in the program.
Techniques we use
Evidence-led methods, layered intentionally.
- Robotic gait training (Lokomat)
- Functional electrical stimulation cycling
- Body-weight supported treadmill
- Caregiver transfer training
2024 outcome data
78% of our incomplete spinal cord injury patients achieve household ambulation within 9 months. All patients leave with independent or assisted self-care plans.
Related care
Other pathways patients often combine.
Stroke Rehabilitation
Goal-driven recovery for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke survivors — from the first transfer out of bed to walking back into daily life.
Post-Surgical Recovery
Knee, hip, shoulder and spine — structured recovery from day-one mobilization through full return to function.
Sports Injuries
Return-to-sport with measurable strength, hop and stability targets — not just "feeling ready."
